The Boy Who Was Finally Heard was created to explore the experience of communicating differently, being misunderstood and, ultimately, being listened to.
This is an 18-page EBook that explores the experience of a young boy who is a Gestalt Language Processor (GLP) and the difficulties he faces when those around him do not understand his style of language processing. It describes the child's feelings of validation and belonging when people learn his style of language processing, how to respond to him, and use strategies that support GLPs language development.
This book is for parents, teachers, SNAs, family members or anyone who supports/loves a child who uses echolalia, scripting, or Gestalt Language Processing. It can also help neurotypical children to understand how some of their peers might talk or understand language in different ways, fostering awareness and inclusion at home and in the classroom.
